Halcyon Agri Awarded the EcoVadis
Gold Medal for Sustainability
We’re pleased to share that Halcyon Agri has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, with a score of 68/100 placing Halcyon in the top 4% of rated companies for sustainability performance. EcoVadis is a global platform for the auditing of trading partners across a broad range of sustainability management criteria. The platform promotes transparency through industry and regional benchmarks, with a database counting over 50,000 rated companies across 150 countries and 190 industries.
The EcoVadis Rating covers non-financial management systems including Environmental, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. As part of the assessment process, documented evidence is analysed using a methodology based on international standards, such as the Global Reporting Index (GRI), ISO 26000 and the guiding principles of the Global Compact.
This year’s score represents a diligent effort to innovate in the socio-economic and environmental performance of the natural rubber value chain, and stands as an improvement on last year’s Silver Medal. Recent progress can be partly attributed to our ‘Sustainable Natural Rubber Supply Chain Policy‘ and the ‘Sustainable Sourcing Policy‘ which have provided the foundation for sustainability initiatives. The policies, developed in partnership with civil society, notably international NGOs Rainforest Alliance and Proforest, reiterate our commitment to conducting business with integrity and transparency, together with social and environmental responsibility.
Furthermore, HeveaPro has provided the mechanism to implement these policies, representing our commitment to the highest standards of natural rubber production and processing. HeveaPro factories are independently certified by TÜV SÜD following more than 1,000 audit point checks covering four core attributes: Quality, Environment Health & Safety, Social Responsibility and Security.
The last year has also seen strengthened ties with industry affiliations, as well as local and international NGOs. As a signatory of the UN Global Compact, we proudly bind our strategies to the mission of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Equally, as a founding member of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) and as a member of the Global Agribusiness Alliance, we collaborate with industry stakeholders to lead the agenda on equity for smallholders.
