Samuel Eto'O Fils

Samuel Eto’o Fils, former football player and current President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), recently visited our Hevecam rubber plantation in Niété, Cameroon. Eto’o is one of Cameroon’s leading scorers and most-capped players, having honed his skills at some of the world’s most prominent clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea.

The Niété region has historically demonstrated support for the national team, with the nearby Nlongo Stadium having served as the training ground for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon during preparations for the AFCON 1984 in Côte d’Ivoire and the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Adding to this connection, the Fomès d’Hevecam, the company’s former football team, had the privilege of acting as sparring partners for the Indomitable Lions on both momentous occasions. Football continues to play an important role in the sporting and social fabric of Hevecam, with regular matches held across the 17 grass pitches across a 25km radius.

The visit highlighted the intersection between football and community, commencing with a reception at the Divisional Officer’s residence and followed by a tour of Hevecam, the Nlongo Stadium, and the local Sports and Studies Academy site.
